Program Reconnects SENIORS with family & Friends

Portrait Health Advocacy recognizes that without  the ability to hear and interact with others, seniors become isolated and  withdrawn, and often avoid social and group activities.  The need to communicate with companions and caregivers is critical, but often becomes frustrating to those who must constantly shout to be heard, or repeat themselves before being understood.

 Portrait Health Advocacy’s new Lending Library of PockeTalkers now makes it possible for those with hearing impairments to 
communicate with family, friends and caregivers.

How this FREE program works
The PockeTalker facilitates conversations with seniors who have impaired hearing and have become isolated
For many, hearing aids tell the world that the wearer is old and broken.  Now through this special program,
personal sound amplification devices called PockeTalkers are being made available through Portrait Health Advocacy at no cost and without obligation to seniors, their families, caregivers and service providers.  
 
The PockeTalker units are loaned free of charge for a scheduled 2 or 4 week period.  Should the user wish to continue to use the unit, Portrait Health will suggest that the user schedule a hearing exam.  This exam is completely optional but could substantially benefit the user as many devices are available that could be
more beneficial to the user. Also, this provides an opportunity for repair and maintenance of the unit.

Show You Care…

Caregivers and Service Providers to seniors may also request PockeTalker units for their patients and prospective clients, as many find it difficult to interact with those who are hearing impaired, especially during an initial visit.  Imagine how much easier that first conversation, and every subsequent conversation could be with the benefit of a personal amplifier!
 
You may also choose to participate as a sponsor in this program, customizing a message of care on the front of PockeTalker units to let others know that you recognize the importance of hearing in the administration of care to seniors.
